Teaching new language.
Vocabularies are words used in a particular language.
The factors that determine whether a vocubalary is difficult or easy are:
* the similarity to the student's native language.
* similarity to English words already known by the student
* spelling and pronounciation. etc.
The criteria that determine the type of vocabulary to use are,
* the appropriateness to the lesson and the students.
* the teachability of the vocabulary.
A straight arrow ESA lesson is best suited for this type of lesson
Grammatical structures - students need to know how and when it is used, what it means, what the grammatical form is and how it is pronounced and written. a staight arrow or patchwork ESA lesson can be used here.
Language functions - this include areas such as inviting/rejecting, agreeing and disagreeing. Students are taught to use the appropriate language in a given situation, whether formal or informal. The boomerang and patchwork ESA lesson plan is best suited to this type of lesson.
In this unit, I learnt about vocabularies, grammar and language functions and how they are used apprpriately.
