This unit covers receptive skills in English language which are reading and listening, it starts by giving reasons for reading and listening which are clear, the first one is for a purpose and the second is for entertainment. Then, the unit shows how people read and listen; different methods for different reasons eventually, after that, the unit states that there are some problems that needs to be address in connection with the language, the text itself, the topic, and the task given to students. At the end of this unit, there is a typical receptive skill using ESA and some materials.
In this unit, I learnt what are the problems that students can encounter for reading and listening skills also I learnt that here again we as teachers, have to adapt ESA methodology depending on the skill and student’s levels, so organization is very important and I learnt the right order and what to do in order to make things easier for students, without forgetting that we shouldn’t feed them and give them everything, but just facilitate.
