This unit focused on when/how to teach certain parts of language and how to do so effectively. Vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions must be taught in tandem, and this can be done in a wide variety of ways involving different iterations of the Engage-Study-Activate lesson plan. I learned that language teaching must involve all three of the aforementioned subsections of language so that students do not learn all of the "fluff" of vocabulary without grammar or language functions, or the more tedious, lackluster case vice a versa. This way, language learning can be utilized in a meaningful way in the classroom and students' everyday lives.
