Unit 9: Lesson planning is an essential preparation step that teachers must do to ensure their lessons run smoothly and the students learn new material. Lesson plans are to give a structure/organization to the lesson but are not to be inflexible, they should be an aid in planning, a working document, and a record of what took place during each class. It is helpful if lesson plans include the following: learner objectives, teacher personal aims, language point/lesson theme, teaching aids/materials needed, anticipated problems and solutions for students and the teacher, procedure of the lesson including what activities are planned and how to carry them out, what phase the activity is in (Engage, Study, or Activate), and the timing of each activity, as wells are interaction (student to teacher, etc.). Also helpful to include the class level, number of expected students, date and time, and teacher's name.
