The main thing that I have taken away from this lesson is what is expected of both the student and the teacher. The various roles (nine in total - manager/controller, organizer, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, resource/facilitator, model and observer/monitor) were described, as well as helpful points about when each role is best used. The differences between young learners and adult learners were compared and contrasted, and the difficulties that could arise with both was also learned in this lesson. Motivation was also a large part of this lesson - the various motivations that bring children and adults into a classroom, and the barriers that will be observed.
