This unit takes in exam two examples of classes. In the first video it is clear that the teacher has an inappropriate behaviour. Firstly, the way he asks questions to the learners, in such a direct way, is very intimidating and can be confusing for them (the main example is the one with the modal auxilary verb question). It is also extremely intimidating because he keeps repeating that the topic is very easy, making the learners uncomfortable to reply. Secondly, the teacher doesn't even seem engaged in the lesson, and actually seems completely disinterested, which is extremely bad for the learners participation.
In the second class it is clear that the teacher is doing a better job in keeping the attention high. Simply by speaking louder and smiling often, the learners are clearly more comfortable. Also the use of mimicking and eliciting is much more effective than just explaining concepts with unknown vocabulary and repeating those unknown words over and over.
It is very clear that the attitude of the teacher, along with the techniques he uses, plays a fundamental role in the class.
