This unit is an introduction to grammar which describes the parts of speech in the English language. It was a great review, offering the definition/usage of the various parts of speech along with the rules for making them plural (nouns and pronouns), comparative or superlatives (adjectives) and the definite and indefinite articles. The portion on verbs described not only the usage of the verb, but also a good discussion on transitive vs intransitive verbs and the verb forms. The chart on irregular verbs will be a valuable resource for me as I teach TESOL because this is an area that many non-English speakers have trouble with. The fact that a verb changes its form in various tenses is very confusing and is one that needs to be memorized so it is good to have it in a chart form. Other parts of speech that are covered in this unit are adverbs, gerunds, pronouns and prepositions. Although I use gerunds often, I don't recall learning the term for this usage of a verb. Now I am better prepared to teach a lesson that includes this part of speech. I also liked the common mistakes/errors portion of the teaching on adverbs. It is helpful for me to be aware of the mistakes that can be made and to be given suggestions for activities to correct these mistakes.
