In this unit we learn all about teaching phonology and pronunciation. This unit was more challenging for me because I have not learned about any of these topics before. There were a lot of new words that were taught in this text. We learn deeper about intonation which is the variation in volumes and pitch, stress which is where we put emphasis on a word or a sentence, the phonetic alphabet, articulation and different ways to teach pronunciation. Teaching pronunciation and the way we say words is highly important. We learn that we must make time for pronunciation focus, while some teachers focus on pronunciation the entire lesson others might just create a slot of time during the class for pronunciation and other teachers might just deal with it when they see a problem arise. We are given many different ideas on how to teach pronunciation such as tongue twisters, visualizations, showing students using your mouth and allowing peers to dictate. For each category in this unit we learn different ways to teach our students. We learn most of all that we must not overlook this part of language learning and we must create time and space to teach phonology and pronunciation to our students.
