This unit represent a good set of guidelines to use properly the course book and all the extra material that a teacher could use in order to teach.
First of all it is examined the difference between authentic material and created materlia. While authentic material might be more appealing for the students, it is also more difficult, not being thought with the learners skills as a priority. Thus authentic material must be chosen very carefully keeping in mind the learners we want to expose to said material. On the other hand created material will provide an excellent source of English aimed on the learners actual skills.
Then the unit examines the various aspects of course books, explaining how to use a course book properly, without over using it (risking to get lazy as a result), and also how to choose a proper course book, in case the teacher is lucky enough to pick a course book of his/her choice.
