I had no idea that there were so many different external tests used worldwide. TOEFL is the only one that I had been familiar with so far. I definitely see the value in testing, and it serves multiple purposes. Whether it is to gauge a prospective students language level, to find out what students may already know, or to simply track a student's progress throughout the course, testing is very practical and useful in the classroom.
