This chapter explores how teacher could use eye contact, gesture and voice to influence the atmosphere for learning and teaching in the classroom. In order to make the students to learn effectively, it requires the teacher to be flexible and change his/her role according to the activity and situation without being dominant or leaving the students alone. In addition, the students can be grouped alone, in pairs or in larger groups and are mainly determined by the class size and type of activity. Each grouping has its own advantages and disadvantages and teacher should mix them up in the class to create as much variety as possible. Classroom arrangement also plays important role in teaching and learning activities. Allocating seats effectively and appropriately by teacher could contribute the better results on student learning activities. Through the study of this unit, I have gained the full understanding on classroom arrangement and realized the importance of teacher’s behavior on student’s performance. It is also crucial to maintain discipline in the classroom as we should always stop problems arising in the first place and respond to the problem behavior immediately after we notice it.
