Reading and listening are the two perceptive learning skills. Although different from the productive skills- speaking and writing, they are equally as important to the question of a language. This unit taught the reader the basic concepts surrounding reading and listening. Among these were the different types of reading skills, what lessons should acompany text, and how to choose the right text for your students. After stating the importance of incorporating perceptive skills into lessons the text continued by showing examples of how to do so using the ESA method. After reading this text, the reader should be prepared to teach perceptive skills to all his or her future classes.
