Receptive skills--reading and writing--are equally important to productive skills when learning a new language. When teaching these modes for the classroom, it is important to ensure that the teacher creates activities that help grasp the different modes and reasons for these skills. Topics for practicing these skills should be chosen by variety--do not select topics because you are solely interested in them or because a single student has laid interest in them. Furthermore, texts should also be modified and chosen based on the level of the students.
