This lesson focused on managing classes and classroom culture. There are many types of students so there are many ways to teach and control the classroom. The teacher the manager of the classroom so it is important for teachers to use their voice, eye contact, and gestures effectively to lead the class. It is very beneficial for teachers to know the students names in order to organize activities, acknowledge students, and to select the student to respond. The way the seats in the class room are organized is also important. If students who get along well together are sitting next to each other, students will be disciplined less. In addition, during pair or group work the students are able to speak more if their tables are in pairs, groups, or in a horse shoe. There are many benefits for decreasing teacher speaking time and increasing student speaking time. The more students speak with each other, the better they can speak English and build a rapport or community with their peers. The way the classroom structure is formed will affect the way students learn and interact with each other and the teacher.
