Unit 5 covers the "logistics" of the classroom. The material encourages teachers to be thoughtful about how details of classroom management can supplement or counteract learning... For example, using body language and eye contact with a specific purpose to reinforce speech can encourage students. The physical arrangement of the classroom can also support learning and should vary with size and activity. Similarly, a mix of whole group, small group, pairs, and individual work can be useful if done thoughtfully for different activities and stages. Discipline and behavior is best addressed prophylactically.
