This unit covers the three main aspects of language teaching: learning vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language function. It is important that with each aspect, the student understands the meaning, usage, structure, spelling, and pronunciation. For new vocabulary, introductory words should be decided based on frequency of the word, how appropriate it is according to the context in which it will be used the most, and how easily teachable the word is. Grammar involves learning structural rules of language while function focuses on when and where the words will be used.
