This unit covered the productive skills of learning known as speaking and writing. Although different in nature and use, both skills are important to attain accuracy and fluency in the English language. The unit first explained the difference between teaching for accuracy and teaching for fluency within spoken English language. After this explanation, the text went on to demonstrate helpful lessons and activities to teach each specific skill. Writing, on the other hand, may lead the teacher to encounter another handful of issues because of its potential differences between alphabet, structure, and punctuation. For this reason, the text stressed the importance of understanding the nuances of theses differences of the written structure of the students native language and the English language.
