In this unit we go over how to avoid potential problems or difficult situations in the classroom. The importance of gaining rapport between teachers and students in the classroom is so huge as we want our students to feel as comfortable as possible so that they feel safe to practice and make mistakes as well as take risks. We go over some different warm up activities to get students comfortable such as hangman, pictionary, and tongue twisters. We also go over what to do if there are different level of students in class. One great way to handle this situation is putting stronger students with weaker students so that they are able to work together and learn from each other. We also see activities for large classes such as choral repetition and the use of worksheets. Lastly, we learn about how to deal with reluctant students using controlled activities and activities to get them speaking and more comfortable and how to help students who are struggling with listening texts.
