This unit was a great refresher on the past tense. I think that identifying the usages of each tense was beneficial for understanding how to teach them. Aside from reviewing material I was already comfortable with, I took away two main points from this unit. First, I found it important to highlight irregular verbs. I think that it is important to realize that irregular verbs do not have rules for their form. Knowing that this could become a difficulty for students when learning can be helpful in preparation for lessons. The next important point I found in this unit was related to where errors are made by students. Each tense has certain forms that must be met to make them correct. Knowing that students make errors commonly with omissions was very interesting, as it highlights areas that can use additional preparation for lessons. I felt that this was a great lesson to refresh myself on the past tense, and gained some important additional insight into where focus needs to be placed for teaching them.
