In this Unit i've learnt that when teaching vocabulary you should keep in mind when selecting the vocabulary is the appropriacy to the students and to the task, the frequency and coverage and the teachability. The students need to know what the vocabulary means, how/when to use it, where it belongs and how it interacts with and effects other words. I've also learnt that when it comes to introducing grammatical structures, the new language structures we introduce will depend on level of the class and/or the course syllabus we are using. In the classes the students will need to know what the language means, how/when it is used, the formation and patterns of the language and the spoken and written forms. Teaching language functions includes areas such as inviting, refusing, agreeing, disagreeing, suggesting etc. The students will also need to know the appropriacy of the language they use when it comes to differences in situations like formal, informal, tentative, technical etc.
