Everything discussed in this unit was basically about the teachers and the learners. The qualities and roles of a good teacher as well as the qualities of a good learner were also spoken about. The unit also made mention of the different language levels as well as some reasons why people are motivated to study English. I was given a short task at the end to help me re-evaluate and be sure that I had understood what was taught in the unit. I learned a lot of things from this unit but the most important that I got to learn was that a teacher is really one of the major makers or breakers of a learner’s confidence and motivation when learning a language. The teacher’s own behavior and attributes, how they allow themselves to be perceived as teachers and the way they are able to communicate with the learner is very important. I realized the importance of also building good rapport with learners because it makes the learner more comfortable to be able to ask questions when unsure and not make them feel intimidated.
