In this unit, I have learned about how is the strategy and tricks in teaching a new language. There are two areas that covered in this unit, the first is vocabulary and the second is grammar/structure with its functions. When teaching vocabulary, I should consider some area related to the students. In students perception, how easy or difficult it depends on several factors such as similarity to L1, similarity to vocabulary that they have acquired, the pronunciation of the word and spelling, also the appropriateness of the words to the context. Moreover, in introducing grammatical structure, there are some points that students need to know. For example, the meaning, usage, the form in spoken and written context. The last but not least is to introduce the functions of the language to the students. The functions such as inviting, offering, suggesting, agreeing, disagreeing, etc. The other important thing that I need to keep in mind is teaching language function also included the appropriateness of the language to each term whether it is formal, informal, technical etc.
