In this unit, I have learnt about theories, methods and techniques in teaching. There are two ongoing arguments about learners' intelligence. The first is the intelligence of their own genes called "Nature" and the second is the intelligence they obtain by learning called "Nurture". Most of the methodology these days used in teaching, considering those two aspects mentioned above. Furthermore, there are three hierarchies in teaching a foreign language, which is approach, method and technique. Each point plays an important role in order to achieve a successful teaching and learning process. There are some methods that I can use in the classroom such as, grammar-translation, Total Physical Response (TPR), Silent way, Presentation-Practice-and Production (PPP) etc. There are also three stages to go through in conveying the materials in the classroom, the first is engage phase, study phase and activate phase.
