Unit 15 covers the topic of evaluation and testing of students. There are 3 main ways of assessing language levels of students namely through tutorials, evaluation by students and through tests. Tutorials can be ten minutes review at the end of every week to review the work done; how students performed as well as problems encountered. Evaluation of students can be guided discussions or questionnares that might have to be done in mother tongue if students are only capable of low level language English. There are many different tests e.g. placement tests, periodic progress tests and achievement tests that are usually given at the end of the year/course. Achievement tests are often external tests through Cambridge or other orginizations. There are many external tests that learners of English can complete that will qualify them to go to certain universaties or be recruited by agencies for work.
