The unit is about pronunciation and phonology. Many words can be written differently but pronunced the same way. So it is important to know how the words sound. For that, teachers and students can use the International Phonetic Alphabet. This lesson also covers the different manners of articulation (plosives, affricates, fricatives, nasal, lateral, approximants), the places of articulation (bilabial, labio dental, dental, alveolar, palatal alveolar, palatal, velar, glottal) and how intonation can express the message that the speaker wants to vehiculate.
