The unit covered the teaching of productive skills, that is speaking and writing. The unit first discussed the difference between accuracy and fluency activities, listed different speaking activities, discussed how to encourage students to interact, and gave a sample speaking activity lesson and guidelines for a creative speaking activity. The second part of the unit concerned writing: different factors in play were discussed, that is handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation, and creative writing. This was followed by a sample creative writing activity lesson. The last part of the unit discussed games, explaining their value and giving a list of twelve games that can be used in classroom. I found the speaking and writing activity ideas as well as the sample lessons very helpful and enriching. I will also keep in mind the list of the games for my future lessons. The point about some students needing help with learning to write individual letters was interesting, I hadn't thought about that as I have never had students with another writing system.
