The topic of this unit was the teaching of pronunciation and phonology. First a definition of phonology was given, then the unit discussed intonation, giving also examples of techniques for teaching intonation. After that there was a presentation of stress and how it could be taught, followed by a presentation of sound joining and linked speech. The unit then presented the phonemic alphabet and the phonemic symbols. The following section was about articulation, including the speech organs, place of articulation and manner of articulation. This section was followed by techniques to teach pronunciation of individual sounds and finally by a reflexion on when to teach pronunciation. I found the unit very informative, and although I had already studied English and French phonology in college, the unit provided me an approach for teaching the phonology and pronunciation. I appreciated the teaching ideas as well as the poem. Once again, the unit provided me a great and concise overview that will be perfect when planning lessons around this topic.
