This unit showed the progression of teaching English from its very basic beginning to the most commonly used and highly accredited form of ESA. Once introduced, the text further explains ESA (Engage, Study and Activate) into each of its own specific categories. Each stage has a purpose. Each stage has specific activities or rules that accompany it. Each stage has a way of providing the student with critical information, which, when put together with the other stages, creates a clear method of teaching the English language. There were several examples of the ESA method varied (Patchwork lesson, boomerang lesson, and straight-arrow lesson). Each lesson should be planned based on the students a teacher has in his/her class and the culture of the school. This unit also talked a lot about errors and mistakes, what the difference is between them, and how to effectively help and guide students when they make an error.
