Unit 9, Lesson planning, gave an overview of why we need to plan lessons and how they can be used as a working document that we refer to as teachers during the lesson. The lesson plan should be a living document, one that includes flexibility in the scope of activities and allows some leeway in the time given to activities. One needs to be able to continue with some activities if the students are engaged and having fun or more on quickly if the students are not 'getting' the content of how to do the activity. The teacher needs to know what he or she wants the students to learn, a leaner objective. In my own teaching we use the phrases 'Learning Intention' and 'Success Criteria' so the students know what they are learning and how they can be successful at the task. A good teacher will also evaluate their own work to make they are working on a skill they need to improve upon.
