This unit covered the two productive skills, speaking and writing. The unit included techniques to elicit speaking, ideas for games, typical lesson plans for a speaking or writing-focused lesson, and an overview of the speaking and writing skills. The games and ideas to encourage speaking and writing production will be very valuable to me, especially for writing. I have found that any writing activities in my class are usually met with groans or a general sense of foreboding, so this lesson was useful in explaining the reasons why students may dislike writing so much- perhaps they find the spelling too difficult, or remembering the rules for English punctuation is challenging at their current level. I will keep the games and suggested activities in mind to help with alleviating these issues.
