Any teacher has to know his or her students' level, but it works badly if you just categorize them once. Plenty of students will fall into 2-3 different categories depending on their age, experience, motivation, etc. They will retain new knowledges with different speed. It's getting even harder when you try to define the level of your class. "Class" means 10, 30, 60 or 100 students. Any group is a "special group".
