Conditional and reported speech is one of the interesting and confusing topics . Basically conditionals mean " if this happens-->then that happens. There are : Zero conditional( generally or always true),First conditional (Likely results of possible situations in the future or promises , threats), Second conditional( hypothetical situations, dreams ),Third conditional(regrets , excuses) and Mixed conditional(present results of imaginary past).In our life we often use reported and direct speech sentences , that is why we need to teach students how to correctly convert it . Verbs , pronouns and time expressions in reported and direct speech should be practiced and learnt by heart.
