Planning a lesson is important for a teacher to keep him/her on target and give him/her something to refer to during a lesson. This is especially important for a new teacher, although too much planning will make the lesson rigid, therefore he/she should be more flexible when teaching. I.e. if an activity draws a students attention and a lot of skills are involved, he might need to extend this activity longer than planned and postpone other tasks. Lesson plan should be simple, well structured, skill balanced, and keep it flexible. The lesson plan should mention the learner's objectives, language points, personal aims, procedures, phase, timing, interaction, anticipated problems… A good teacher wants to monitor the quality of her own lessons. An effective way of doing this is to make notes of what went well and what should have been improved. You should plan a sequence of lessons, considering goals, flexibility, revision, variety and balance.
