Unit one was very interesting to me as I have been a adult learner teaching for over 20+ years and it was both a reflection of what I already know to be true in adult learners but also I learned quit a bit about younger learners and some things to consider.
In the adult learner I completely understand where they are at and that they bring with them into the classroom a history of learning and the fear of being incorrect or feeling uncomfortable in learning new information or techniques. As a professional teacher and facilitator I am very conscious of the importance of helping students feel safe and supported no matter where they are in their learning level and skills.
I enjoyed reading about the different breakdown of levels and how they were broken down for the level of learner and the role the teacher plays. From my experience it reflected exactly what I practice in terms of each of the roles a teaching/coach takes in the process of helping someone learn. For example, you may need to flip from Manager to Prompter to Facilitator role within one interaction with a students. It is important to understand each of these roles and when to use this "tool" you have to help the students learn as effectively learn.
