This unit was really interesting because it went over all the parts of speech, and gave examples of what they were. It covered more common parts of speech such as Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Gerunds, Pronouns and Prepositions, to more specific in-depth parts of speech like transitive and intransitive verbs, auxiliary verbs and countable and uncountable nouns. Similar to what was stated in the introduction, it is easy for a native English speaker to not know some of these rules because we learned them through practice at an early age. I also found that because I spent most of my elementary year in Europe, I missed out on learning what some of these sentence structure rules are that I take for granted. When teaching ESL, it would be important to know this information to help guide our students in making correct sentences with the proper parts of speech.
