I learned several teaching techniques I have never heard of. The Engage Study Activate method is probably the most effective method of teaching; especially for new ESL teachers. The Straight Arrow lesson is the most basic type; simply following the ESA framework. The patchwork lesson has more steps and allows the teachers more flexibility because it involves as many ESA phases as needed. the Boomerang lesson requires a lot of language from the students during the activate stages.
