Throughout this lesson I learned the characteristics that make a good teacher, such as being kind and patient, the true love of teaching, having background knowledge on the subject, and being able to involve and motivate students to name a few. I also learned what the various roles of the teacher are. I think this is important when conducting a lesson, because it helps to know what the outcome may be depending on the type of role I portray. For some activities I will need to be the controller, however there are some instances when I may need to assess, prompt, or model. I was able to learn what some of the motivations are for student learners, and learning experiences that can impact those motivations. Finally I learned about the language levels and how these correlate to the Common European Framework. I find this to be very important because it is my job as a facilitator and manager to know my students, and to come up with activities that are appropriate for my students. I want to make them strive, but not push them too far above their learning level.
