This unit has taught me the importance of planning lessons. The writing of lesson plans has a number of important functions such as; it aids in planning, it serves as a working document and it acts as a record. There is no special way a plan should be written as some teachers make a formal plan and others simply jot notes or log details into class notebooks. Some of the basic principles of lesson planning are: keep it simple, don't script, maintain the same structure and keep it flexible and open to adaptation.
