As the last time I learned grammar rules was in 4th grade, I found this unit and the unit on present tenses challenging to learn and remember. The hardest part is remembering and articulating the rules that apply to each tense. I had to re-read the chapter and my notes continuously.
While it is challenging for me, it must be extremely difficult for ESL students to learn all the rules. Teaching ESL is a combination of grammar rules plus conversational practice and its important to have a balance between the two approaches.
