In this this unit, just like the present tense, past tense are actions related to past time periods. In this unit i learnt the following about past tenses.
1- Past simple: It is formed by adding and ed to base form of the verb. How ever, not all verbs are regular verbs. example SEE- SAW.
The negative form we add did not in front of the base form and the question form we simply add did+subject+verb.
2- Past continuous: It form thus S+WAS\WERE+VERB-ING
It negative form is form thus S+WAS\WERE+NOT+VERB-ING
It question form is thus WAS\WERE+S+VERB-ING.
3- Past perfect: Affirmative- S+HAD+PP
Negative - S+HAD NOT+PP
Question - HAD+S+pp
4- Past perfect continuous.
