This unit covered the various aspects of Classroom Management. Ideas for teacher use of eyes, voice, and gestures took up the first few pages while the positives and negatives of Whole Class, Individual, and Pair Work followed. The unit made special note to encourage the use of student names when organizing the class, acknowledging students, and when asking questions (must use the student name at the end of the question). The classroom arrangement section showed factors to consider, questions for the teacher to ask him/herself, along with advantages/disadvantages of several desk arrangements. Finally, the classroom management issues section highlighted writing on the board, giving individual attention, teacher talk time, giving instructions, building rapport, and discipline. The video for this unit served to present in summary and reinforce the written material quite well.
