Modal auxiliary verbs are used before other verbs to add meaning to the main verb. They included words such as can, could, may, nmight, must, shall, should, would, have to. Modal verbs are followed by a verb in its base form. There are two voices in English, active and passive. In the passive voice, the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb. In the active voice, the agent is emphasized more whereas in the passive voice, the agent is less important or doesn't appear. There are independent clauses and dependent clauses in English. Relative clauses are introduced by a relative pronoun such as who, which, that, whose, whom, etc. Relative clauses are dependent clauses that modify a noun.
