Chapter 3 was quite long indeed covering EFL methodologies, mistakes and feedback. I have come to understand the various teaching methods that were used way back in time and some are still being used in the present day. These methodologies include task based learning, grammar translation and the silent way to mention only a few. These methods are ideal in different respective circumstances as they have good attributes as well as shortcomings. However, the ESA technique is one of the most effective methods of teaching English. This technique has three types namely straight arrow, Boomerang and the Patchwork. The latter being the most flexible of all the three types. I have also learnt that mistakes and errors are different and as a result their treatment should not be the same. Correcting students in the engage and activate stages should be kept to a minimum. Students should correct themselves as much as possible and whenever it is appropriate.
