Modals, phrasal verbs, and passive voice are difficult to teach students. One effective way to ensure your students learn them is by incorporating them into your conversations with students so that they have more exposure to them. Modal verbs are generally used before the main verb to add meaning and include can, should, could, may, must, might, and have to (among others). Passive voice is used to take the focus away from the actor and to put it on what is being acted upon.
