There are four types of present tense: Present simple, present perfect, present continuous, and present perfect continuous. Present simple uses the base verb. With present perfect the verb usually ends in ed, and present continuous verbs usually end in ing. Present perfect continuous is a combination of perfect and continuous, such as "I have been living...". Present simple doesn't describe an action happening now.
