This unit taught me about the teaching of Pronunciation and Phonology. Phonology is the study, science, analysis and classification of the physical properties of sounds. The text dealt with the areas of Stress, Rhythm and Intonation as well as the International Phonetic Alphabet and its use in helping students come to an understanding of English pronunciation. I previously had absolutely no knowledge of the phonetic alphabet so learning about it was interesting.
