The teaching model consisting of engage/elicit activities, study practices and activation skills will work quite well in teaching vocabulary and other language functions. In the engagement phase, the teacher can stimulate the students through the use of realia, mime, pictures and discussion. This can be followed by various study practices, including gap fill exercises, word searches, cross words, matching exercises and unscrambling. The third phase (i.e. activation) often occurs in small groups or pairs and involves role play, simulation, story building and debate.
