There are five types of conditionals, zero, first, second, third and mixed. The zero conditional is usually if/when statements. The first conditional is typically if/will. The second conditional is if/would. The third conditional is if/would have. The mixed conditional is if past perfect, would + base form. Teaching conditionals can be tricky and should be taught one at a time and slowly. Reported speech can change the tense of the sentence (She said that she was going to work that day).
