The way a teacher conducts himself/herself sets the tone for the whole lesson plan. During the first video, there were many mistakes the teacher made which lessened the effectiveness of learning for the lesson. Students were not engaged because the teacher did not begin with introduction, had a hastiness to his teaching, and scorned students who gave incorrect answers. During the second video, the teacher was warm and welcoming, introduced everyone, and started with an engaging activity. There was more structure, and the students were more engaged because he incorporated S-S interactions. There was just enough predictability for students to understand the lesson but not to become bored and keep them focused. With experiences and reflection on each lesson plan, a teacher can hone his/her skills to make learning more effective, engaging, and fun.
