Pronunciation and phonology are the aspects covered in this unit. Phonology is defined as the study , science and analysis of the physical properties of sound. Pronunciation on the other hand is how well or correct a learner with the help of the teacher is able to say a word without errors or mistakes.Stress , rhythm and intonation are the ares covered on the two aspects.
The unit defines intonation as the variation between volume and pitch in a whole sentence while stress concentrates on an individual word.Stress has three patterns discussed in the unit , these are rise/fall , fall/rise and the flat patterns.
Stress is found verbs , adjectives and nouns. Sound joins are also looked into they include linking , sound changing and sound dropping. Places of articulation include dental , velar and alveolar.
